Leadership Lessons: I’ve learned and am still learning

Victor had a 30-year career in financial services, 29 of them in Asia-Pacific serving customers in a variety of senior regional business roles. He was a commercial banker for 10 years and an institutional banker for 20 years. In the latter role he covered the southeast Asian, south Asian and south and east African markets.
Victor is a director of ESSEC Business School. He is a Member, Total Defence Awards Evaluation Board. He chairs IRAS’s Taxpayer Feedback Panel and is a member of the Data Protection Appeal Panel. He is also a member of both the Singapore Institute of Directors and the Singapore Institute of International Affairs.
In this session, Victor will share what leadership lessons he has learned and is still learning in his career journey. He will talk about the importance of core life skills, including optimal teamwork, and how building and sustaining relationships can give you the edge you need to be and stay successful.

The Thought Leaders Series seminar series aims to connect students with organisational leaders and alumni to stimulate discussion, debate and critical thinking whilst exploring topics on leadership, business, innovation and entrepreneurship and more.
The Thought Leaders Series seminar was held online on Wednesday 19 May 2021 and presented by Yukiko Masuda, Managing Director of APAC Legal, Labor and Compliance at FedEx Express.
In this role, Yukiko is responsible for legal and regulatory compliance, risk management and business continuity in APAC. She is currently leading cross-functional projects, such as the post-merger integration of FedEx Express and TNT. She is also a member of a regional crisis management team based at APAC HQ in Hong Kong. Yukiko is trilingual and has lived and worked in Japan, United States, China, Hong Kong and Singapore.
During the session, Yukiko discussed what it means to have a global career, the opportunities and challenges of living and working in different cultures and how you can use these experiences to build your global career.
